Applying for a US Passport
The Byron Township Clerk’s office is a passport agency for the U.S. Department of State. The hours are 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Every effort is made to keep the office open during these hours, however, there are occasions when the office must be closed. It would be wise to call 878-9104 to confirm that the Passport Agency is open on the day you wish to come.
When you apply for a passport, please bring the following information:
- Proof of identity (driver’s license, state identification)
- Proof of citizenship (Original proof of birth – sealed certificate, not hospital certificate)
- Two passport photos (Walgreens and Meijer are two stores which take the photos.)
- Two checks: One made out to the U.S. Department of State (click http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/fees/fees_837.html below for the fee schedule), and one for $25 made out to Byron Township (Facility Fee).
